My two cents later.
-I will confess that, for the most part, I was entertained. However,
for the third season in a row, a person was chosen to be in the cast
who is emotionally unstable. That bothers me.

-When Gabe obtained an immunity object that was good for THREE tribal
councils, I laughed out loud as I tried to imagine Brian’s reaction to such
a
twist.:-)

-There was way too much Probst for my liking. As I’ve said before, the new
era seasons have been edited in such a way as to make him a character in
the game. It is not a good look IMO. As the people on “Sucks” are fond of
saying: “Shut up Jeff”.

On the positive side, with the exceptions of Andy and the guy on Red Tribe
who walks around the jungle talking to himself, this cast actually looks
pretty
good.

I was entertained as well. What really bothered me about Andy is that
the tribe kept him over Jon. I thought for sure he was a goner after his
meltdown at the IC. Rachel voting to boot Jon instead of him makes zero
sense to me after what she said when he woke her up in the middle of the
night to talk.

I thought that was pretty good. I did laugh when the box went flying
down the hill. I was surprised that was set up so close to camp.

Jeff didn't bother me too much. I liked when he was very open about them
not being alone out there and pointed out that there are cameras behind
them. Back in the old days they went out of their way to make it seem
the players were alone. They didn't even show bandages on players like
they do now. Were we as viewers that naive 20 years ago?

Are you talking about Rome the guy who found a "Beware Advantage"? If
so, Q had a great tweet about him.

Rome has his dirty ass hands and body in the WATER THEY DRINK!! 😂😂😂
wow BIG MISTAKE!!! #survivor47

https://x.com/QMB_4/status/1836573863150231802

Rob Cesternino has to be happy that his person survived not winning
supplies for her tribe. The RHAP mention must have made him happy as well.

I was fine with Jon being booted because I hate it when Survivor casts
grade C level celebrities. As far as I’m concerned...”good riddance”.
Regarding Rachel’s vote, I think it was a situation in which everyone else
was “piling on” and she would have been foolish to draw attention to
herself
by not joining in.

I was being sarcastic as I know how much you dislike it when there are
an abundance of advantages in play. I think that the “three TC immunity
object” gives Gabe way too much power in the game. Basically, he will
be impossible to vote out prior to the merge. I also felt that the second
key was too easy to find given the enormous amount of power that it
unlocked.

Yes, we seldom get to see the “behind the scenes” stuff. Re. Probst, I
thought his speech about “community” at the beginning of the episode
was far too longwinded; and forcing Andy to talk about his feelings
right after he had received medical assistance was exploitive. He pulled
the same shit with Liz in S36 hoping to induce some sort of emotional
outburst. He never treated players in such away in the “old school"
seasons.

I had no idea who Jon was. At first, I thought he was going to be the
narrator of the season and last a while. To me, Andy looks like a bad AI
version of Austin.

You might be right about Rachel. Guess we'll find out at the start of
the next episode.

I agree with you concerning how Probst treated Liz. I see the Andy
situation differently. The way he looked around first and then
purposefully laid down made it seem like he was acting. If he was, he
fooled enough people on his tribe to save himself. I hope he goes soon.

She can go after Andy and Rome. Hopefully next episode we see some
players stick out for good gameplay. I'd like to see more of Caroline.

Yes I was. But then I felt a sense of relief that his immunity power
had been, at least, somewhat limited.

That’s a possibility that I hadn’t considered. I thought that it was odd
that
Probst told the players to keep going even as Andy received medical
attention.
But it would make sense if Probst felt that Andy was exaggerating his
physical
distress. There may have been more to their interaction than was included
in the edit.
Post by Brian Smith
I hope he goes soon.
There is also the unsettling possibility that he is the winner of S47, and
his
transformation from anxious outsider to master strategist will be the
season’s
most riveting story arc.

Yikes! Have you seen any articles, etc. of Probst hyping this season?
I'm only seeing S50 stuff. If I heard correctly, on ET last night he
said they've narrowed the list of possible players down to 87.

No, but I wasn’t looking tbh. Through the summer, I wasn’t even planning
on watching S47, so it was way off my radar. But, as I said, I enjoyed E01

I think Jon going home was the classic case of "one of these things is
not like the others. He was clearly older than the others and just
didn't seem to fit in. I was cringing a bit at the awkward way he tried
to pretend he liked Tik Tok.

I also laughed at whoever said that "boomers" want to shut down Tik Tok
or however they said it. Very funny.

I'm kind of liking the cast so far.

I have to think the show must have cleaned out and refilled the well

they continued to let them get their drinking water from there after that.

At least we know Teeny's a fan and did some homework before the season.
She looks like she'll have a good social game. With a bit of luck she

I agree about there being too much Probst, even to the point where some
of the wording of the immunity clues sounded like it had to have been
written by Jeff. For example, on one of the clues it actually says
"Take a moment and imagine...it's day 24 and you've made it to the final
five. With your idol you are guaranteed a spot in the final four...".
I don't recall previous clue instructions having such a Jeff tone to them.

I actually like the cast too, though it seems heavily Gen-Z. It's
definitely an improvement over last year's Bhanu-fest..

Yes, the cast is “Millennial /Z heavy”, but, at least so far, they appear
to be a far more interesting group than what we had to tolerate in S46.

Gen Z people tend not to have seen old school reality seasons which is a
dream for casting.

I thought last season had a pretty good cast overall but Bhanu did
standout as one of the worst players ever to watch. He seems to have
disappeared from the Survivor community which is the exact opposite of
what he wanted.

Yes. Gabe did not read aloud everything that was written on the parchments.
In one of the earlier seasons I became aware that the editors were only
including some information in players’ voice-overs, and have gotten into
the habit of reading the parchments “over the players’ shoulders”.

I’m not sure that holds true for Survivor. In their biographies that were
shown on ET,
most of the S47 players mentioned at least one "old schooler” in response
to the
question concerning which former player(s) they would hope to emulate. The
exceptions
were Caroline (who named only “new schoolers”) and Gabe (who ducked the
question).

Yes, it's at about the 1:07:00 mark of the CBS 2-hour telecast when Gabe
is reading the clue from the third box. It clearly show all the words
written on the clue, though he only reads some of them out loud. If you
pause the video and read the whole clue, it really sounds like Jeff all
the way

I think once everyone realized Bhanu was just another would-be actor,
his 15+ minutes of TV fame were effectively over.

Is that the 58 (?) year old the younger wants to work with because he
thinks she'll be more stable than younger players? I need to learn
names, etc. as I spent no time preseason reading articles, etc.

Forgot this was starting tonight! Was ready to watch BB and then saw S47
starts tonight.
My two cents later.
One more thing: What’s up with the freaking looking woman who
owns the flight school? She has the arms and legs of an eighty
year old, and the worst facelift I have ever seen. Yuk!
Yeah, that be Sue Smey. She clearly had work done on her face.

Too much work. IIRC, there's a long deleted scene with her explaining
