Tonight's episode is titled "Loyal to the Soil." The sneak peeks for
this episode are very interesting. In one of them, Andy's given what
might be the most blatant winner's edit ever. It's so over the top that
I can only come to two possible conclusions: 1) he dominates the rest of
the season and wins in a landslide or 2) the show is setting him up for
a dramatic downfall and ouster.

Gen does not come across well in the sneak peeks. She did not factor in
how badly Teeny would take Sol's boot and now feels guilty. It's the
first time we've seen Gen let her emotions get to her.

And there's going to be a new (different?) type of rice negotiation.
Wonder if this will tie in to Rachel's earlier attempt to take rice
during an IC?

This was a great episode IMO. I had no idea who was going home until the
votes were read.

Teeny and Gen got a lot of story time tonight. I had no idea that Teeny
was so emotionally attached to Sol. She also seemed to be emotionally
attached to Gen which surprised me. She was clearly hurt by Gen
orchestrating Sol's boot and it looked like she was ready seek revenge.
The scene where her bag caught on fire and she talked about her identity
struggles was well done.

Tonight was the first time since early on in the season where Gen did
not come across as being in control of things. She miscalculated big
time on taking out Sol. She put a huge target on herself with that move.
Why was taking Sol out so important to her? I don't recall Sol saying he
wanted to get rid of her.

Reward Challenge

Another random draw to split the players into three teams of three
people each. This ended up being pretty lopsided as one team was Sue,
Teeny, and Gen. I thought Kyle's team cheated. Did Jeff not say they had
to use their heads to move the ball through the sand? Sam was using his
shoulders 90%+ of the time and then Kyle and Rachel copied him. No
wonder they won so easily and got to go to The Sanctuary for some food.

The Sanctuary

We got some good game talk at the Sanctuary. Sam pitched for Gabe to be
the target and they quickly settled on Gen as the backup. Sam and Rachel
had a chance to talk alone and it sounds like they had it out. Rachel
told us that she basically doesn't trust Sam because he keeps screwing
her over.

Immunity Challenge

After explaining the challenge to them, Jeff says it's time for them to
finally get some rice but that they have to strike a deal with him in
order to get it. He says he wants four of them to volunteer to sit out
of the challenge. Someone asks if he'll accept three. He says no.
Caroline asks if he'll give them the bag of rice if two people give up
their SITDs. Jeff says no. Kyle says "what about if we all give up our
Shots in the Dark?" Jeff says okay. Not everyone is on board at first
but after Gabe convinces Sam to give up his SITD it's a done deal. Jeff
is surprised. I thought it was a stupid move. If they made it to Day 18
with no rice what's another eight days?

Once again, the challenge came down to Sue vs. Kyle with Kyle winning
his fourth immunity. IIRC, Jeff said the record is five. According to
Mike Bloom, Kyle's only lost three challenges the entire season.

Back at Camp

At first it looked like Gabe would be the target but people quickly
started having other priorities. Rachel wanted to go after Gen and take
out Gabe later. Teeny agreed.

Andy at one point went to Sue and said he wants to work with her and go
to the end with her. Is there anyone Andy who has not had this talk
with? And why are these people not comparing notes? Andy also told Sue
that Kyle refers to her and Caroline as Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb.
This led to a lot of bad words from Sue that had to be censored.

A pivotal scene was when Caroline told Andy she wanted to take out Gabe
and that Sue would never go for it. She seemed worried even mentioning this.

Tribal Council

This was well-edited tonight. Gen appeared to be very concerned and just
about resigned that she would be going home. Lots of good facial
expressions from her that were helped out by the cold rain during TC.
Gabe, on the other hand, didn't seem to be all that concerned. I thought
Gen was a goner until Kyle went to vote. After they showed him writing a
"G," I could tell the next letter was going to be an "a" by the position
of his hand. That had me thinking Gen might have a shot to stay. In the
end, the vote was 7–2 with Gabe and Sue voting to boot Gen. Now we need
to wait and see if Sue was blindsided and if she was, how mad is she
going to be at Caroline. After what just happened to Gen, I hope
Caroline was smart enough to give Sue a heads up before the vote.

When Gabe left, did he say to Caroline "So you've got a little snake in
you, huh?" I thought it was her but then someone asked Kyle if Gabe
called him a snake.

I had to laugh when Gabe said to Jeff "I'll be back." Jeff should have
said to him, "Gabe, you're not Season 50 material!"

At the very end of TC they put up a black screen with a tribute to Barb,
the biggest Survivor fan ever.

Tweet from Mike Bloom explaining the dedication at the end of the episode.

For those who were unaware, this #Survivor47 episode was dedicated to
Jeff's mom Barb Probst, who passed away two weeks ago just before her
86th birthday.

This was a great episode IMO. I had no idea who was going home until the
votes were read.
I was pretty sure it had to be Gabe. Tuku was the only tribe who still
had four members (the others had two and three), which means they were
getting close to being able to run the table if they could stay together
and continue to vote together as a bloc. I think it was clear to the
others that either Kyle or Gabe - whoever didn't win immunity - would
have to be voted out.

In contrast, while Genevieve was disliked and perceived as manipulative,
she was essentially on a tribe of one, having alienated Teeny, and she
was not a threat to win immunities. Unlike Gabe, who was always an
immunity threat, the others perceived they could take out Genevieve
whenever they wanted.

I thought it was a brilliant move. The SITD is essentially worthless.
It almost never works, and the one time it finally did, the player just
got voted out the following week. I would much rather get some food and
protein for fuel in the challenges than to hold onto a one in six chance
for an immunity that actually has a 5/6 chance of not only not working,
but also losing your vote.

everyone

To me it looked like Kyle and Caroline were more concerned about taking

two of them would have been in F3 with Gabe assuming he didn't lose

A lot of people seem to think Andy is going to win, but everything I see
in his edit reeks of him being taken to the finals and being the
zero-vote third place finisher. I've mentioned before I think he is
getting a dodo edit, and tonight they actually played the dodo music
during one of his scenes.
Ha Ha! There is “dodo” music? I’m going to have to listen for it.

Tonight's episode is titled "Loyal to the Soil." The sneak peeks for
this episode are very interesting. In one of them, Andy's given what
might be the most blatant winner's edit ever. It's so over the top
that I can only come to two possible conclusions: 1) he dominates the
rest of the season and wins in a landslide or 2) the show is setting
him up for a dramatic downfall and ouster.
Gen does not come across well in the sneak peeks. She did not factor
in how badly Teeny would take Sol's boot and now feels guilty. It's
the first time we've seen Gen let her emotions get to her.
And there's going to be a new (different?) type of rice negotiation.
Wonder if this will tie in to Rachel's earlier attempt to take rice
during an IC?
This was a great episode IMO. I had no idea who was going home until the
votes were read.
I was pretty sure it had to be Gabe. Tuku was the only tribe who still
had four members (the others had two and three), which means they were
getting close to being able to run the table if they could stay together
and continue to vote together as a bloc for another vote or two. I
think it was clear to the others that either Kyle or Gabe - whoever
didn't win immunity - would have to be voted out.

Post by Brian Smith
Teeny and Gen got a lot of story time tonight. I had no idea that Teeny
was so emotionally attached to Sol. She also seemed to be emotionally
attached to Gen which surprised me. She was clearly hurt by Gen
orchestrating Sol's boot and it looked like she was ready seek revenge.
The scene where her bag caught on fire and she talked about her identity
struggles was well done.
I don't think this was directly referenced, but did you notice at about
the 1:08:28 moment of the CBS telecast when Rachel was talking with
Andy, Rachel appeared to be sewing up Teeny's damaged backpack? I
thought that was really interesting and showed either great kindness or
perhaps just strategy on Rachel's part in trying to stay close with
Teeny. Wonder if there is a secret scene on this?
Post by Brian Smith
Tonight was the first time since early on in the season where Gen did
not come across as being in control of things. She miscalculated big
time on taking out Sol. She put a huge target on herself with that move.
Why was taking Sol out so important to her? I don't recall Sol saying he
wanted to get rid of her.
I think she was just mad because Sol had orchestrated the Rome vote out.
She admitted she was just being petty about it, and I think she
regretted it once she saw what it did to Teeny.

I'm pretty sure Genevieve is toast and will be leaving soon - if not
next week, then the week after.

I initially thought it was cheating too. Perhaps Jeff may have overly
simplified the rules on this, Perhaps the rule wasn't that you had to
use your head but that you simply couldn't use your hands or arms, and
Jeff simplified this to say you had to use your head. It's also
possible that you could use your shoulders as long as the ball touched
the side of your head.

By the way, was I imagining things or did it look like Andy was
literally biting the ball and tossing it forward using his teeth as a
dog would shake something out of its mouth?

The Sanctuary
We got some good game talk at the Sanctuary. Sam pitched for Gabe to be
the target and they quickly settled on Gen as the backup. Sam and Rachel
had a chance to talk alone and it sounds like they had it out. Rachel
told us that she basically doesn't trust Sam because he keeps screwing
her over.
I was a little surprised there were no apparent hidden idols or
advantages at the sanctuary, unless the players just never saw it. I
suppose it could also be that since no idols were used lately, none had
to be replaced.

I thought it was a brilliant move. The SITD is essentially worthless.
It almost never works, and the one time it finally did, the player just
got voted out the following week. I would much rather get some food and
protein for fuel in the challenges than to hold onto a one in six chance
for an immunity that actually has a 5/6 chance of not only not working,
but also losing your vote.
Post by Brian Smith
Once again, the challenge came down to Sue vs. Kyle with Kyle winning
his fourth immunity. IIRC, Jeff said the record is five. According to
Mike Bloom, Kyle's only lost three challenges the entire season.
Very good chance Kyle goes home if he loses the next immunity.
Otherwise, good chance it will be Gen
Post by Brian Smith

At first it looked like Gabe would be the target but people quickly
started having other priorities. Rachel wanted to go after Gen and take
out Gabe later. Teeny agreed.
Andy at one point went to Sue and said he wants to work with her and go
to the end with her. Is there anyone Andy who has not had this talk
with? And why are these people not comparing notes? Andy also told Sue
that Kyle refers to her and Caroline as Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb.
This led to a lot of bad words from Sue that had to be censored.

This was well-edited tonight. Gen appeared to be very concerned and just
about resigned that she would be going home. Lots of good facial

I'm pretty sure Gabe said that to Caroline. Since only two Genevieve
votes were read, Gabe probably figured that was his vote and Sue's,
which meant both Caroline and Kyle had to have voted for him. I'm sure
he assumed Kyle just had to go with the crowd because everyone was
voting that way, but he know Caroline was strategic enough that she
might have led the vote.

It will be interesting to see what Sue does now. She already hates Kyle
and she must know that Caroline voted for Gabe. So I wonder if she will
weirdly join up with Genevieve, since she is also on the outs now with
everyone

Back at Camp
At first it looked like Gabe would be the target but people quickly
started having other priorities. Rachel wanted to go after Gen and take
out Gabe later. Teeny agreed.
Andy at one point went to Sue and said he wants to work with her and go
to the end with her. Is there anyone Andy who has not had this talk
with? And why are these people not comparing notes? Andy also told Sue
that Kyle refers to her and Caroline as Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb.
This led to a lot of bad words from Sue that had to be censored.
Maybe no one takes Andy seriously. After all every time we've seen
someone making deals with everyone the players end comparing notes and
distrusting the person, but those people were also seen as real
players. I don't know that people see Andy that way.
Post by Brian Smith
A pivotal scene was when Caroline told Andy she wanted to take out Gabe
and that Sue would never go for it. She seemed worried even mentioning this.
Tribal Council
This was well-edited tonight. Gen appeared to be very concerned and just
about resigned that she would be going home. Lots of good facial
expressions from her that were helped out by the cold rain during TC.
Yeah, she clearly knew she was considered a target for tonight. After
all she said no one was talking with her during the day which is
always a bad sign.
Post by Brian Smith
Gabe, on the other hand, didn't seem to be all that concerned. I thought
Gen was a goner until Kyle went to vote.
Well, Gabe was in the opposite situation from Gen. He seemed to be in
every conversation and so probably felt in relative control of the
situation.
Post by Brian Smith
Yes, I thought he was talking to Caroline. After all Kyle voting Gabe
out wouldn't be a surprise to Gabe, but Caroline might be.
Post by Brian Smith
I had to laugh when Gabe said to Jeff "I'll be back." Jeff should have
said to him, "Gabe, you're not Season 50 material!"
Well, Gabe will be back for every TC going forward this season. ;)
Post by Brian Smith
At the very end of TC they put up a black screen with a tribute to Barb,
the biggest Survivor fan ever.
Next Episode
Looks like more Andy escapades.
At some point either Andy is getting a blind side or he is winning the
entire game. ;)

This was a great episode IMO. I had no idea who was going home until the
votes were read.
In a confessional, prior to going to TC, Gabe said, “Right now, I feel as
good
as I’ve ever felt in this game”. That comment told me that he was heading
to Loser’s Lodge. It’s too bad because I liked him, but I also understand
why seven people voted for him.
Post by Brian Smith
Tonight was the first time since early on in the season where Gen did
not come across as being in control of things. She miscalculated big
time on taking out Sol. She put a huge target on herself with that move.
I completely agree. The votes on Day 16 should have been put on
Kyle. Why the rest of the players went along with Genevieve’s dumb
plan was beyond me.
Post by Brian Smith
This ended up being pretty lopsided as one team was Sue,
Teeny, and Gen.
Ha! As soon as I saw that one of the teams was made up of Sam,
Rachel, and Kyle, I knew who the winners of that challenge would be.
Post by Brian Smith
I thought Kyle's team cheated. Did Jeff not say they had
to use their heads to move the ball through the sand?
They were all using their shoulders, except for Andy who used his
tongue, and Sam who sometimes used his forearms.
Post by Brian Smith
Sam was using his
shoulders 90%+ of the time and then Kyle and Rachel copied him.
Other way around. Sam and Rachel copied Kyle.
Post by Brian Smith
I thought it was a stupid move. If they made it to Day 18
with no rice what's another eight days?
I didn’t have a problem with the group decision. The SITD can
only be used up to F7, and the odds of getting a “safe” outcome
are very long indeed. Since the SITD was introduced to Survivor,
13 players have used it with only 2 “safe” outcomes (a 15%
success rate). In fact, the only player who had votes for him
negated as a the result of successfully playing the SITD was
Kaleb, and he was simply voted out at the next TC. IMO,
taking the food was the right move.
Post by Brian Smith
When Gabe left, did he say to Caroline "So you've got a little snake in

called him a snake.
No, Andy asked Caroline about the “snake” comment, and she
confirmed that it had been directed towards her.

You're right about the order in which Rachel's team competed. I also
noted that Jeff clearly said "using your head" twice. Kyle pretty well
never used his head and Sam and Rachel weren't much better. Gen seemed
to only use her shoulders when she lost control of the ball. Also, note
how the Dream Team member was moving the ball during the demo scene. If
that's how they were supposed to move the ball I think they would still
be playing that challenge.

There is no question the players did not obey the literal instruction to
just use your head. I can only conclude one of two things must be true
here. Perhaps the written instructions that the players read before
every challenge were worded differently from Jeff's "using your head"
verbiage. Maybe the instructions actually said head or shoulders and
Jeff just short-handed it. Otherwise, perhaps Jeff made the assumption
that even when they were using their shoulders, the ball was still
touching the side of their head so he allowed it on that basis. If
that's the case, then kudos to Kyle for finding an effective hack for
the challenge that no one probably thought of beforehand.

I haven't listened to any podcasts yet, so it will be interesting to see
if Rob or Stephan noticed this and commented. Also, I wonder if this

I was looking at X during commercial breaks and didn't notice anyone
such as Mike Bloom mention it. I also have not listened to any podcasts
nor have I read any episode recaps. Maybe Dalton mentioned it.
Dalton says this:

"...The players were randomly divided into three teams and then had to
slither up and down sand with their arms and legs bound while pushing a
ball with their head and shoulder.

The blue team of Kyle, Rachel, and Sam dominated in a blow out, but the
entire purpose of this challenge is not to determine a winner, but
rather to watch people look as silly as possible while struggling to
move a meter at a time. That’s right, I said meter. SHOUT OUT TO THE
METRIC SYSTEM, Y’ALL! But this competition is always super fun to watch,
even when it is not close."

Notice he says "head and shoulder" whereas Jeff clearly only said
"head". I do wonder if Jeff merely misspoke or if he perhaps actually
said "head and shoulder" but they edited it to just "head" for some
reason. Pretty sure he only said it once when they were showing the
dream team demo.

I checked a few other random reviews, and no one really addressed this.
Most of the reviews focused more on Gabe being voted out or the rice
negotiation.

Rachel has also been playing a very smart game, and the more I see
of her the more I like her.  If I'm rooting for anyone in the game
at this point, I think it's her.

I thought Sam went first?
Kyle went first and immediately started using his shoulder to push
the ball.  Jeff saw him directly and immediately commented on how
well he was doing.  Genevieve then started doing it also, not from
having seen Kyle -  he was two lanes over from her - but she also
figured it out.
Sam actually went last in his group.  Remember he made Rachel
switch places with him at the starting line, which I didn't
understand at the time, but it was so he could go last.
CBS posted the entire RC on YouTube so I watched it again last
night. You're right about the order in which Rachel's team competed.
I also noted that Jeff clearly said "using your head" twice. Kyle
pretty well never used his head and Sam and Rachel weren't much
better. Gen seemed to only use her shoulders when she lost control
of the ball. Also, note how the Dream Team member was moving the
ball during the demo scene. If that's how they were supposed to move
the ball I think they would still be playing that challenge.
http://youtu.be/RiBPKa5__bw
There is no question the players did not obey the literal instruction
to just use your head.  I can only conclude one of two things must be
true here.  Perhaps the written instructions that the players read
before every challenge were worded differently from Jeff's "using
your head" verbiage.  Maybe the instructions actually said head or
shoulders and Jeff just short-handed it.  Otherwise, perhaps Jeff
made the assumption that even when they were using their shoulders,
the ball was still touching the side of their head so he allowed it
on that basis.  If that's the case, then kudos to Kyle for finding an
effective hack for the challenge that no one probably thought of
beforehand.
I haven't listened to any podcasts yet, so it will be interesting to
see if Rob or Stephan noticed this and commented.  Also, I wonder if
this comes up in Jeff's podcast?
I was looking at X during commercial breaks and didn't notice anyone
such as Mike Bloom mention it. I also have not listened to any
podcasts nor have I read any episode recaps. Maybe Dalton mentioned it.
At ~the 0:43 mark of the YouTube clip I posted Jeff says "as you slither
through the sand moving a ball with your head." A few seconds later you
hear/see Sue say "What?!" Then during the comp at ~ 2:11 Jeff says
"You're using your head to move the ball." In my world, your head and
shoulders are different body parts. Dalton either didn't pay attention
or he's assuming Jeff screwed up

The fact there was no advantage at the "feast" probably makes this a
nonissue. I would have liked to have seen Caroline at least have a fair
shot to get some food so she doesn't starve to death.

In a confessional, prior to going to TC, Gabe said, “Right now, I feel as
good
as I’ve ever felt in this game”. That comment told me that he was heading
to Loser’s Lodge. It’s too bad because I liked him, but I also understand
why seven people voted for him.
Like I said in another post, Gabe didn't have the best read on
the game. He should have known that Kyle winning immunity was
going to put a big target on his back.

Tonight was the first time since early on in the season where Gen did
not come across as being in control of things. She
miscalculated big

I completely agree. The votes on Day 16 should have been put on
Kyle. Why the rest of the players went along with Genevieve’s dumb

nonissue. I would have liked to have seen Caroline at least have a fair

Well it's not exactly a non-issue, since they did get food, which is a
big deal and may have affected who won immunity, which in turn would
affect who got voted out. Theoretically, if Kyle really did break the
rules, Gabe could file a complaint under game show rules saying that he
got voted out as a direct result of Kyle winning immunity, which was
aided by the protein he won by cheating.

The strangest part of all this is that Jeff and multiple producers all
saw Kyle using his head and shoulder, and no one said a word. And the
other players who were standing in line also all saw what he was doing,
and no one said "Hey, Kyle is cheating!"

Based on everything we've seen, I think the only thing that makes sense
now is that the official written rules - which really govern what the
players do in a legal sense - must have said in the fine print that you
could use your head and shoulder, and for whatever reason Jeff chose to
shorten that to just "head". That's the only thing that explains why no
one spoke up and no producer alerted Jeff that the rule was being
broken. I really hope Jeff addresses this in the On Fire podcast.

If you look at the video you will see that not only were people using

arms. So apparently everything but the hands was allowed.

Or Jeff just decided not to enforce the rules. Maybe they were pressed
for time and couldn't afford to spend 12+ hours on a RC.

I listened to the On Fire podcast. At around 11:50 they talk about the
RC. Jeff goes on for minutes talking about how much effort is put in to
ensuring these challenges are fair to everyone. He talks about how they
made sure the sand dunes were the same height for all three teams. Not
one word though about the rules! We need someone to ask Kirhoffer what
the exact rules are as he's likely the person who finalized them.

FYI, Jeff did refer to Gabe's "I'll be back" comment. Jeff took at his
he'll be back to play again.

A few random comments and observations after watching E10:

-Solomon sure cleans up nicely.

-I now think that Brian was right about many of the players
whitening their teeth before going on the show. In E10,
I noticed that Andy and Christeenie’s teeth were also
dazzlingly white. I wonder if it is a service that SEG
provides free of charge before the players hit the island.

-When Probst was talking about the food that would be
available at the The Sanctuary, I thought he said, “Rats,
veggie and chicken”. I immediately thought of the
Pagong tribe in S01 cooking rats like shish kabobs over
their fire.

-Sue’s eyebrows are actually tattoos.

-Probst’s grammatical errors:
-“shot in the darks”
-“shots in the darks”
He finally got it right at TC.

I dunno, but if the audition videos are available anywhere, we could
check that to see how their teeth look. Personally, I think anyone
knowing they are going on TV might choose, at minimum, to buy some
whitening strips from the grocery store for $20.

Yes, who could forget the immortal comment from Greg: "Tastes like
chicken - if you use your imagination". Incredibly, that remark
actually provoked protests by PETA in front of CBS headquarters.
Perhaps not coincidentally, rat eating didn't last that many seasons on
the show.

Yes it did - in fact in that case PETA made a formal complaint to the
Queensland Australia government about it. It wasn't just that Skupin
slaughtered the animal - he incredibly took the boar's blood and rubbed
it on his face. I'm pretty sure that was the last time anyone was
allowed to kill a large animal like that. The following season, which
was set in Africa, there was a contestant named Frank Garrison, who had
hoped to follow in Skupin's footsteps by hunting wild game, but was told
it would no longer be allowed.

I could be forgetting something, but I think the last major Survivor
controversy over killing an animal was season 7 when Rupert and another
players supposedly killed a pelican, but were stopped by producers from
eating it due to the possibility of parasite. Pretty sure that wasn't
shown on camera.

Animals were killed in S34 but it sounds like production covered it up.
Sandra in her exit interview explained everything that happened.

We actually kept the goats for overnight and they were like
'Baaaaaa...' all night long. And so the mom, she wasn't eating the food
we were giving her. She wasn't drinking the water. She wasn't letting
the baby nurse. And the baby was tied up too right next to her. J.T.
made a rope. And then they were getting tangled around each other or the
tree. So then the next day is when we decided, 'Okay, let's get rid of
them.' Mind you, I'm not a farmer. I'm not the guy who said, 'Well,
guys, we have to eat the baby first because it's not nourishing and it
will die, and the meat is tender.' You know, like, 'The meat is more
tender on the baby than the mama so the baby has to go first.' I'm just
repeating everything I'm hearing, and then they just catch me off guard,
you know? But, I would have to say that the next episode when you got to
see us eating these big pieces of meat? That is not fish and that is not
chicken. And that's the last I'm going to say about that. And I didn't
have nothing to do with it because I was at a confessional! I come back
to camp and there it is and after I saw that episode I was like, 'Lord
I'm going to take the shit for that one too.'

have nothing to do with it because I was at a confessional! I come back

I'm going to take the shit for that one too.'

Forgot about that one. If I'm not mistaken, Sandra is the only one who
has ever told that story, so I wonder if anyone else from that cast
(like JT or Malcolm) ever confirmed it? I find it a bit hard to believe
producers would let them do that.

Yes, who could forget the immortal comment from Greg: "Tastes like
chicken - if you use your imagination". Incredibly, that remark
actually provoked protests by PETA in front of CBS headquarters.
Perhaps not coincidentally, rat eating didn't last that many seasons on
the show.
Can you remember if similar outrage occurred after Skupin allegedly
killed that boar in S2?
Yes it did - in fact in that case PETA made a formal complaint to the
Queensland Australia government about it.   It wasn't just that
Skupin slaughtered the animal - he incredibly took the boar's blood
and rubbed it on his face.  I'm pretty sure that was the last time
anyone was allowed to kill a large animal like that.  The following
season, which was set in Africa, there was a contestant named Frank
Garrison, who had hoped to follow in Skupin's footsteps by hunting
wild game, but was told it would no longer be allowed.
I could be forgetting something, but I think the last major Survivor
controversy over killing an animal was season 7 when Rupert and
another players supposedly killed a pelican, but were stopped by
producers from eating it due to the possibility of parasite.  Pretty
sure that wasn't shown on camera.
Animals were killed in S34 but it sounds like production covered it
up. Sandra in her exit interview explained everything that happened.
We actually kept the goats for overnight and they were like
'Baaaaaa...' all night long. And so the mom, she wasn't eating the
food we were giving her. She wasn't drinking the water. She wasn't
letting the baby nurse. And the baby was tied up too right next to
her. J.T. made a rope. And then they were getting tangled around each
other or the tree. So then the next day is when we decided, 'Okay,
let's get rid of them.' Mind you, I'm not a farmer. I'm not the guy
who said, 'Well, guys, we have to eat the baby first because it's not
nourishing and it will die, and the meat is tender.' You know, like,
'The meat is more tender on the baby than the mama so the baby has to
go first.' I'm just repeating everything I'm hearing, and then they
just catch me off guard, you know? But, I would have to say that the
next episode when you got to see us eating these big pieces of meat?

The story Sandra told Dalton on his radio show is a bit confusing. It
wasn't the mom and baby they killed. We saw them being released in the
episode. Apparently they (Malcolm and JT) caught a billy goat and that's
the one they ate. This is what Sandra told ET Canada. It sounds like
Malcolm killed the goat and JT and Sandra helped clean/prepare it.

If this didn't happen why wouldn't have production said something?
Dalton at one point must have asked Jeff about it. IIRC, this incident
happened early in the season. Sandra was already being portrayed as a
villain and the goat stuff helped to amplify her edit. You also need to
keep in mind how popular Malcolm was back then. No way in hell would
Jeff show Malcolm as a cold-blooded goat killer.

I agree that if it happened, Jeff would not want Malcolm to come across

been showrunner for a few years by that point and was on top of
everything that went on during the show. He would never have permitted
this.

The fact that no one other than Sandra has ever talked about this just
strikes me as very strange.

I don't think Jeff's out in the field micromanaging every aspect of the
game. You also need to keep in mind that goats are an invasive species
in Fiji. I doubt Jeff would have cared. Look at how long it took him to
act in S39. The stories about Dan made it seem like he was behaving
inappropriately the entire game but he wasn't removed until Day 36(?).
IIRC, he was removed for an entirely different reason.

I just watched that scene again. It's Ep02 and starts around the 17:25
mark (beginning of third segment if you have to put up with commercials
like I do). It's very clear that Sandra wants to kill the goats for
food. The others would like the meat but don't want to kill a mom and
baby. JT offers to catch another goat which matches Sandra's story. I
don't see why Sandra would make this up. If she did, there were plenty
of people present that could call her out. And if Jeff was upset, then
why did he invite back two more times just a few years later?

A lot better than Sierra. She looks way better without makeup.

-I now think that Brian was right about many of the players
whitening their teeth before going on the show. In E10,
I noticed that Andy and Christeenie’s teeth were also
dazzlingly white. I wonder if it is a service that SEG
provides free of charge before the players hit the island.
I don't recall anyone ever saying that production pays for it. On BB, if
they run out of personal items, production will send a PA out to buy the
products and then deduct the cost from the player's stipend. These
shows are cheap as hell.

And they're bad.

Speaking of Sierra, I stumbled upon some information about her
recently: She was the winner of the Miss Delaware U.S.A
Pageant in 2018.

Yes, right before he placed the SITD’s on the table.

I’d love it if he did. I’ve got quite a number of bones to
pick with him. :-)
But I’m not holding my breath as I’m pretty certain that
Usenet is more than a little off his radar.

Sure, but is he tech savvy. Usenet is the sort of thing that only tech
savvy would bother with. Even though it's not that hard to set up and
use now.

I seriously doubt Jeff uses Usenet. His background is in show business
and hosting, and I don't see anything in his bio that would suggest any
kind of technical background. The total estimated number of Usenet
users worldwide (excluding those who primarily use it for file
transfers) is only in the thousands, and for a specialized niche site
like alt.tv.survivor, the number is clearly much lower.
