Tonight's episode is titled "Operation: Italy." Interesting title. I
can't see why any of them would say that. Sounds like the RC is going to
involve surprise letters from home. We're also going to find out that
Caroline is Sue's daughter!

Great episode tonight. A crazy plan that actually worked!

The beginning of the episode confirmed that Kyle did call Sue and
Caroline “Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dumb.” Sue also said she was sick of
the “Kyle Show.” Did the edit make Kyle look better than he really was?

The mother/daughter segment at the start of the episode with Sue and
Caroline was great foreshadowing. I had to laugh at Sue telling Caroline
to wipe the dirt off her face.

There was also a very interesting scene at the start of the episode with
Teeny and Gen. Gen told her she made a mistake not making emotional
connections with the other players. She then pitched that they take out
Rachel saying that Rachel is basically playing a perfect game. Teeny
asked if that meant she would vote for Rachel over her to win the game.
When Gen implied she would, Teeny got pissed off. It was either a huge
miscalculation on Gen’s part or a brilliant psychological move.

Reward Challenge

Sam made up a ton of ground to edge Rachel for the win. The reward was a
trip to The Sanctuary for an Italian dinner and to spend the night.
There would also be letters from home. Sam got to choose two people to
go with him. He chose Andy first, which stunned Andy. I was stunned as
well. Sam explained that he had promised Andy he would take him and that
he keeps his word. He then said because the reward involved Italian that
he had to choose Gen. If Rachel had won the reward or if Sam hadn’t
chosen Andy to come along, this would have been a very average episode.

After Andy, Sam, and Gen left, Jeff asked the other four how they were
feeling. Teeny didn’t hold back. She blasted the hell out of Sam saying
he made a huge mistake not choosing her. She said they would be planning
Sam’s demise.

The Sanctuary

At The Sanctuary, Andy flipped once again, telling Sam and Gen that
Rachel has a Block a Vote advantage and that one of them would be the
Underdogs’ target. He then came up with an elaborate plan named
“Operation: Italy” that was designed to blindside Rachel. The plan was
to convince them that Gen has an idol, get them to split the vote, and
then the three of them would all vote for Rachel, sending her to jury.
Sam gave his expired idol to Gen, which along with some things she had,
she used to make a fake idol.

Back at Camp

To help sell the plan, Andy told each of the girls that he was sure Gen
found an idol at the reward and that they should split the vote. Teeny
wanted Sam to go bad and Rachel wasn’t convinced Gen has an idol. To
make things look more convincing, Gen went running into the jungle
pretending to look for an idol.

In another foreshadowing scene, Sue told Caroline if she thought she was
in trouble she would use her idol to protect her. Caroline’s name had
been thrown out as a potential target.

Before heading off to TC, Gen listed several reasons why this plan
wouldn’t work.

Tribal Council (Night 22)

TC was interesting. Teeny essentially said that there’s a set target
list and there isn’t much people can do to change it. Gen gave Jeff a
long answer on emotional connections and said she was swinging for the
fences tonight. She wanted to do more than stay in the game.

In a huge surprise, Operation: Italy with a backup plan worked
perfectly. Sadly, Caroline went home tonight with an edit that kind of
made her look dumb. I wanted to see Teeny taken out as she’s been
getting too cocky and too annoying lately. The vote was 3–2–2. Sue and
Teeny voted for Sam while Caroline and Rachel voted for Gen. Sue didn’t
show much emotion when her daughter got voted out. I’m questioning if
she would have used her HII on Caroline.

Next Episode

Next week is Part 1 of the two-part finale. Looks like Rachel and Gen
might go head-to-head in a Survivor shootout.

Andy’s stock went way up tonight. Fishbach is asking if Operation: Italy
was the best play of the New Era. I can’t think of anything better. It
was a brilliant plan. I am surprised that Andy keeps getting away with
flipping damn near every day. If he keeps making big moves, he’s got a
good shot at winning even if half the jury doesn’t respect him.

I thought it wouldn't work as I thought Rachel might use her Block a
Vote advantage since it runs out at the next TC (I think.) So why not
use it now?

Yes, but as far as we know Kyle only said it once. Sue made it sound

I think it was a bad move on Gen's part as she didn't pick up how
Teeny was feeling as Gen talked.

Good question. My guess is that she sees more value in keeping it for
F6. She knew she was safe tonight so if the Block a Vote gets her to F5
then she can use her HII to get F4. If she wins F4 Immunity she'll
probably win.

Ah, I was thinking both the HII and Block a Vote Advantage would end

Really? While Teeny is well liked I can't see any other reason for her
to be thought of as a potential winner of this season. She's had no
strategic game that I've noted and won no Immunity Challenges so no
one should be respecting her physical or strategic game.

Quite a few people on SM thought Teeny was getting a winner's edit. I
totally agree with your points. After Ep12, nearly everyone has
abandoned the idea that Teeny is going to win.

Could also be a case of neither makes it to the end and it doesn't
really matter how often Kyle said that to Sue and Caroline.
True. Though I can't see anyone seeing Sue as a threat to win the game
so she may slide through to the end.
That makes sense but I don't see Teeny being a threat either, yet a lot
of people up to this episode thought she had a great shot at winning the
game.
Really? While Teeny is well liked I can't see any other reason for her
to be thought of as a potential winner of this season. She's had no
strategic game that I've noted and won no Immunity Challenges so no
one should be respecting her physical or strategic game.
The key phrase is "Teeny is well-liked". The winner is often someone
the jury members personally liked, and I think Teeny could very well win
if she goes to the finals with, say, Sue and Genevieve. No one other
than her "daughter" Caroline really likes Sue much, and Genevieve makes
a point of saying she doesn't really have personal relationships with
anyone. And if you throw Andy in as one of the three finalists, no one
seems to like or trust him. I think Teeny has a solid shot if she goes
to the finals with anyone other than Rachel. People seem to like her
and that sometimes counts for the most with juries.

Tonight's episode is titled "Operation: Italy." Interesting title. I
can't see why any of them would say that. Sounds like the RC is going to
involve surprise letters from home. We're also going to find out that
Caroline is Sue's daughter!
Great episode tonight. A crazy plan that actually worked!
I thought it wouldn't work as I thought Rachel might use her Block a
Vote advantage since it runs out at the next TC (I think.) So why not
use it now?
Good question. My guess is that she sees more value in keeping it for
F6. She knew she was safe tonight so if the Block a Vote gets her to F5
then she can use her HII to get F4. If she wins F4 Immunity she'll
probably win.
Ah, I was thinking both the HII and Block a Vote Advantage would end
after F6 so using the Block a Vote at this TC would make more sense
since she would use the HII at the next TC.
I think she said it's good to F5. Isn't that usually the case with HIIs?
No idea. I couldn't remember which TC the advantage and HII ended at
and neither could the friends I was watching with.

Caroline “Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dumb.” Sue also said she was sick of
the “Kyle Show.” Did the edit make Kyle look better than he really was?
Yes, but as far as we know Kyle only said it once. Sue made it sound
like it was a regular thing for Kyle to call them that name.
That's why I'm asking if Kyle's edit was accurate.
I don't know, but I would hope so. Seems like that might have been
useful for the viewers to know if Sue had more of a reason to dislike
Kyle. Also one would think the others might have commented on it if he

Is being well-liked enough when you have no resume? I also don't think
she would be able to sell her game even if she had one.

Did Kenzie really have a great resume? Certainly not compared to
Charlie. But what Kenzie had going for her was that she was genuinely
liked by everyone and hadn't alienated anyone as Charlie did. I'd argue
the same could be send for Yam Yam.

I'm not saying Teeny played a great game. She hasn't. But she seems
well liked and I think people trust her and take her at face value, as
they did with Kenz. If she's up against a snake like Andy whom no one
can trust and someone like Genevieve who they clearly don't like, I
think she could make a case for herself. After all, she's a writer by
trade so she's probably good at communicating.

Kenz was actively involved in the decision making that helped take her
to the end and win the game. She might have won because she was much
more well-liked than Charlie, but that wasn't the only reason she won.
To me, Teeny has had the decisions made for her. When she does try to
influence the game it always appears to blow up in her face.

Teeny has rubbed some people the wrong way. I don't think Sam or Gen
would vote for her over anyone left other than maybe Sue. She would have
to win out and have Sol advocate for her at Ponderosa in order to win
the game.

Totally forgot to include the IC.

Immunity Challenge

This was a newish challenge. The paddle/ball thing at the end looked
hard as hell. Only Rachel mastered it and she easily won Immunity which
ruined part of Operation: Italy. But if Sam or Gen had won Immunity, the
plan never would have worked. But would have either thrown the challenge
given how unlikely the plan was to work?

It was indeed a brilliant plan and it worked perfectly. In the 4-3
split between Caroline, Sue, Teeny and Rachel on one side and Andy,
Genevieve and Sam on the other - it was very clear that the group of
three was much more strategic and manipulating than the four. Caroline
and Sue were really not strategic at all, as it turned out. They
effectively really were Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb. Rachel is very
strategic, but she is clearly playing an individual game and playing for
the win, and with immunity in hand I think she was just focusing on her
own path forward. Teeny is just being Teeny, very emotional and very
reactive to the slightest perceived slight from other players. The four
were completely over-matched by the other three, especially Andy (and
how weird it is to say that). Of course Andy has to Andy, and he pretty
much outed himself at TC when he says to the other side "I'll explain
later". So it's literally anyone's game at this point (except Sue - I
still can't see her being anything but a goat). Rachel is the clear
favorite, but she has to use the block a vote next TC to restore the
advantage they had, and then her IC at F5. Then she has to get by F4
and Fire. If we end up with an F3 of Andy, Sue and either Genevieve or
Sam, I have no idea of who will win.

and Fire.  If we end up with an F3 of Andy, Sue and either Genevieve or
Sam, I have no idea of who will win.
You nailed it when it comes to Rachel. Losing one of the three women was
no skin off her ass as she's got a relatively easy path to F4 with or
without them. Teeny was way too cocky and seems to have convinced Sue
and Caroline that there was nothing Sam and Gen could do to survive that TC.

Andy's "I'll explain later" comment is him saying he'll be flipping
again the next day. Did Sam and Gen catch that?

Wow! I had assumed that Andy had burned his bridges with the
Rachel/Dirtface/Christeeny group. Why would they have any-
thing to do with him at this point in the game?

Andy seems very good at explaining his backstabbing moves. He's done it
so often yet everyone he's betrayed has agreed to work with him again.

Of course Andy has to Andy, and he pretty
much outed himself at TC when he says to the other side "I'll explain
later".
Andy was outed the second the final vote was read.

So it's literally anyone's game at this point (except Sue - I
still can't see her being anything but a goat). Rachel is the clear
favorite, but she has to use the block a vote next TC to restore the
advantage they had, and then her IC at F5.
Sam, Genevieve, and Andy know about the “Block-a-Vote, and
will be expecting Rachel to use it to nullify one of their votes.
It seems to me that the only counter move they have is to
convince both Christeeny and Sue to flip and vote for Rachel
(If she doesn’t’t win immunity again). However, IMO, that is
very unlikely to happen.

You’re probably right. I also can’t see Sue flipping after what Andy did

her proxy daughter. Maybe if Sam offered to give her a bath and a neck

Is Sue married or do you think that matters? Early to mid season, I
thought Rachel did a lot of flirting and it seemed to be pretty
effective. Sam could try his luck with Sue and tell her he was never
fully on board with taking out Caroline. I'm actually surprised he and
Gen didn't push for Teeny who has issues with both of them.

Sue is divorced but in a 15-year relationship with a guy, per this

Thanks for that link. Interesting that her daughter was seven when they
started watching Survivor together. Caroline said she was five. So
Caroline might have been right when she said that Sue might have been
imaging her daughter playing the game through her. Caroline is also very
similar in age to Sue's daughter.

You’re probably right. I also can’t see Sue flipping after what Andy did

There might actually be an argument that could be used to flip Sue
at the F6 TC. Either Sam, Genevieve, or Andy could just tell her the
truth; that voting with Rachel would not be in her own best interests.
They could point out to Sue that if Rachel gets to FTC, she will win.
So it would seem logical for ALL of the other players to work together
to ensure that doesn’t happen. Regarding the Caroline vote, Sam,
Andy, and Genevieve, again, should stick to the truth and tell Sue
that the original target was Rachel, and that when she was no
longer available, they decided to take out the second most
dangerous player in the group of 4.
So, at F6, Rachel will block the vote of either Andy, Genevieve,
or Sam. If she has not won immunity again, Sue could vote with
those three to send Rachel to Ponderosa 3-2. However, IMO, if
Rachel doesn’t win immunity, she is very likely to play her hidden
immunity bracelet meaning that either Sam, Genevieve, or Andy
will be booted. And, of course, if Rachel does win immunity, all
bets are off.
This would be a very risky move to make as it may end up
with Sam, Andy, or Genevieve out of the game. But it beats
doing nothing and letting the Block-a-Vote put Rachel and two
weaker players in control of the end game.

Given how emotionally connected Sue obviously felt to Caroline, and
given the emotional way she reacted when Kyle cast that stray vote for
her, I can't see Sue possibly aligning with the Genevieve-Sam-Andy
alliance. She reacts emotionally and seems to value loyalty above all
else, and I think it is likely she will stay aligned with Teeny and Rachel.

With Caroline gone I think Sue will start to act more logically and

way. The best thing Sue could do to avenge her daughter's blindside is
to win the game.

I actually know next to nothing about the players IRL, and prefer to keep it

I find that to be true of the back story segments that Production gives

do after their seasons are over. The really awful behaviour on SM
by some former players has certainly contributed to my feelings.

She's a strategy consultant for Fortune 500 companies. If the other

Yes, he said he has a girlfriend. More importantly, in this past

that kind of trip unless a lot has changed.

The beginning of the episode confirmed that Kyle did call Sue and
Caroline “Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dumb.”
I’m not so sure about that. It doesn’t at all sound like the kind of
thing that Kyle would say, and I had assumed that Andy had just
made It up to build trust with Leatherface.
Post by Brian Smith
When Gen implied she would, Teeny got pissed off. It was either a huge
miscalculation on Gen’s part or a brilliant psychological move.
By the look on her face after Christeeny stalked off, I don’t think that
Genevieve expected the reaction that she got. For those who have
picked Christeeny to win the game, her E12 edit might change their
mind(s). She looked terrible throughout the episode.
Post by Brian Smith
After Andy, Sam, and Gen left, Jeff asked the other four how they were
feeling. Teeny didn’t hold back. She blasted the hell out of Sam saying
he made a huge mistake not choosing her. She said they would be planning
Sam’s demise.
See my comment above.
Post by Brian Smith
TC was interesting. Teeny essentially said that there’s a set target
list and there isn’t much people can do to change it.
See my comment above.
Post by Brian Smith
In a huge surprise, Operation: Italy with a backup plan worked
perfectly. Sadly, Caroline went home tonight with an edit that kind of
made her look dumb.
That wasn’t my impression. Her edit included some confessional
comments in which she expressed confidence about her chances of
getting to the end, but that sort of thing has long been used to plant
seeds of doubt in the viewing audience. At no time did Caroline
look dumb IMO.
Post by Brian Smith
I wanted to see Teeny taken out as she’s been
getting too cocky and too annoying lately.
That wasn’t going to happen. Sam, Genevieve, and Andy’s
ideal F3 should include Leather/Dirt Face and Christeeny.

This episode was so good that I felt annoyed when the two challenges
interrupted the strategic interactions that were occurring at camp. :-)

F6 is probably a good time to get Andy out of the game.

I’m not so sure about that. It doesn’t at all sound like the kind of
thing that Kyle would say, and I had assumed that Andy had just
made It up to build trust with Leatherface.
Kyle acknowledged in his interview with Rob C. that he referred to
Caroline and Sue as Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum. It's around the 5:15
mark in the interview:

He also says that he deliberately fed some information to Teeny (not
clear if it was this or another comment) to see if it would come back
around to him, and it did, which is why he voted for Teeny.

That wasn’t going to happen. Sam, Genevieve, and Andy’s

Don't you think their "ideal" F3 would be Sam, Genevieve and Andy? I
got the distinct impression they were working together to get the three
of them to final 3. If they all secretly want Sue there as well, I have
to ask who do they think is the odd one out?

This episode was so good that I felt annoyed when the two challenges
interrupted the strategic interactions that were occurring at camp. :-)
F6 is probably a good time to get Andy out of the game.
I guess it hinges on whether Andy is perceived as an actual threat to
win, or do the people in the game and on the jury perceive him as many
viewers do as the goofball of the season who is a lock to get no votes
in F3. Perception is reality, as they say, and I just can't get a good
read right now on what everyone in the games thinks of Andy at this
point. As the votes were being read, I thought I saw someone on the
jury say "this is all Andy", but did they mean that in a good way (for
Andy) or not. Hard to tell.

I imagine that they will stick together as long as their common enemy
(Rachel) is in the game. However, if they were to somehow find a way
to remove her, then I would expect each them to look after their own
self interests by trying to get to FTC with the weakest opponents
available.

I should have said "over confident" instead of "dumb." Kellie thinks if
she had made it to the end that she would have won.

I do think Caroline woulda won whole game if Rachel didn’t win
immunity…Her positioning was flawless-respected player in majority
alliance at 7, but not threat #1 in it (Rachel); w 2 other threats (Gen
& Sam) who need to go before her + a blindly loyal ally Sue #survivor47

Poor Christeeny. Spending at least 22 days with “a typical all-American

come up with a new plan to get rid of Rachel.

Taking out Rachel at F6 would be next to impossible. Andy knows she has
a Block a Vote advantage and that it expires at F6. It would be crazy
for Rachel not to play it which means Andy would need to flip Teeny or
Sue. I don't see that happening. I could see Andy being a target but
Teeny's obsession with taking out Sam could spare him.

I agree that flipping either Christeeny or Dirtface is the only way
to nullify the blocked vote. I also don’t see it happening.

I could see Andy being a target but
Teeny's obsession with taking out Sam could spare him.
That will be an interesting decision for Rachel, Christeeny, and
Dirtface. Rachel would probably not want to see Genevieve or
Andy sitting beside her at FTC, but Sam is the only remaining
player who is capable of putting together an immunity run and
sending Rachel to fire. IMO, Rachel’s best play is to block
one of the Andy/Genevieve/Sam votes, and then put all three
of her group’s votes on Sam.

Taking out Rachel at F6 would be next to impossible. Andy knows she has
a Block a Vote advantage and that it expires at F6. It would be crazy
for Rachel not to play it which means Andy would need to flip Teeny or
Sue. I don't see that happening.

My sense is that Rachel would prefer to take out Gen if that's a
possibility but she won't be able to sell Teeny and Sue on the idea.
She'll block Gen's vote and try to take out Sam which I see happening if
Sam doesn't win immunity.

When it comes to fire at F4, is it just me or have they not shown these
people making fires? I have no idea who would well in a fire making
challenge.

Interesting point. Post merge, Kyle appeared to be in charge of the fire.
However, in E12, we saw at least one scene of Sue starting the fire
when the tribe returned from TC.

Another reason why it was good to get rid of Kyle when they did. He
might have won 8–0.

I remember that scene now. Sue probably practiced making fires before
coming out.
