Tonight's episode is titled "Is That Blood in Your Hair?" The promo clip
for this episode is interesting. Rome is super cocky and pretty well
convinced they can send Sol packing if he doesn't get an idol.

More later...

P.S. Rick, I hope you and Liz are somewhere safe right now.

I'm doing fine so far. Thanks for thinking of us. The path of the
storm is slightly south of us, so I think we will be okay. We're
expecting maximum winds tomorrow morning of around 40-50 mph in our zip
code, which I think we can handle.

I never did figure out exactly where Liz lives, so I'm not sure if she
is near the path or not. I'm sure she will be tweeting if she is affected/

Big challenge tonight will be finding the episode to watch. The local
CBS channel is showing weather, weather, weather, 24 hours a day, so I
will have to download it from somewhere.

That's not bad at all for wind. Hopefully you don't get crazy amounts of
rain.

I was busy during the east coast airing so I'm staying off of X until I
watch the episode.

If you have Paramount+ and a VPN you can change your location and watch
the west coast feed which is what I might end up doing. It's either that
or wait until they post the episode.

Everything went fine. Maximum winds were around 50, no damage to house
or property except one fence panel knocked down, rainfall was reasonable
with no flooding, and power stayed up.

Regarding the episode, I found it on demand and just finished it.

I thought this was a great episode. I had no idea who was going to get
booted.

--Whoever did the creative on the "Beware Advantage" Sue found deserves
a bonus. The "coconut" full of "blood" was brilliant. At first, based on
the episode title, I thought Sue was going to break the rope and then
get hit on the head by the coconut. They went out of their way to
increase the likelihood the person would be caught.

--In one of the funniest Survivor moments of the New Era, Sue tried to
convince her tribemates that she's only 45. I'm not even buying she's 58.

--Rome is a thug. Have we ever seen a player threaten someone the way he
did Sol?

--Rome looked so stupid in the IC doing the puzzle. That was easily the
worst puzzle performance of all time. After a few minutes of not being
able to add even a single piece you'd think he would have switched out
with Gen. The dude is blind to his faults.

--Anika and Rachel were once again puzzle ninjas. Rachel is very impressive.

--Sam and Sierra might be married. Their bickering is very reminiscent
of a married couple.

--Andy is unintentional comedy gold. We could be in for more laughs if
Sam chooses him over Sierra.

--The Journey twist this week was a great one. I loved how they would
all either lose their votes or all potentially benefit from the
three-way amulet if one of them would give up their vote at the next TC.
I was surprised Teeny gave up her vote considering she was the one going
to TC that night. I was also surprised that they all told the truth when
they got back to their respective camps and thought the twist would help
their alliances.

--After being nearly invisible the first three episodes, Gen shone in
this one. I didn't realize until tonight that she's a lawyer. She's
clearly a strategic player. She wasted no time in taking out Kishan who
stupidly put a target on her despite being in the same alliance. Gen did
a great job redirecting Rome away from Sol and onto Kishan. I did not
see Rome using his "Steal a Vote" advantage on Kishan and neither did
Kishan or Tenny. It was an impressive blindside. If she can reassure
Teeny when they get back to camp she'll be in great shape.

Next Episode

Jeff say's there's a new twist but we're not shown what it is.

Yeah, they did a good job at not making the bootee obvious. Which I
appreciate as they also made it clear why the bootee was chosen.
Something they don't always do.

Though she could have got away with it if she didn't bother trying to
clean things up and just took the note down to the ocean to get
cleaned up. Trying to do it at the well was a bad choice as she was
much more likely to run into another player at the well than if she
had gone to the ocean.

I don't get why they didn't change out players early on when it was

rounded edge pieces needed to be put on the bottom even without
looking at the other puzzles that were being put together. Yet he kept

If he had not gone along with Jerome’s suggestion that Solomon be
told that the vote was for Genevieve, he probably would have
survived. Genevieve’s “spidey sense” only began to tingle when
Jerome started telling her about all the things that Kishan was
doing behind her back.

I thought this also. I felt that if the girls had just held out until
the very last second, Andy would have caved easily. I have no idea why
Teeny caved so quickly. Most of the sand had not even fallen through
the hourglass. If Teeny had decided she was going to do this, she
should have waited until the last possible second in case someone else
(e.g., Andy) did it first. I hope someone remembers to ask Teeny about
this whenever she eventually does an exit (or winner's) interview

Does he consider the long term consequences of anything? He seems to
make a decision on impulse and then goes with it. Anyone who was self
aware would have noticed how he was doing in that puzzle challenge and
let the other person give it a try. Though part of that blame rests on
Gen for not speaking up and getting Rome to give them a chance at the

Why not just leave the splattered paint and let the other tribe members
find it and wonder what had happened. To me that would have been a lot
safer than taking a chance that someone would stumble onto her as she
was cleaning up (which is effectively what happened).

She easily looks to be pushing 60, especially when you consider the
amount of work she has apparently had done on her face. I get that she
doesn't want anyone to think she is old and therefore weak, but she
effectively gave them that impression anyway by pretending how tired and
emotional she was.

three-way amulet if one of them would give up their vote at the next TC.
I was surprised Teeny gave up her vote considering she was the one going
to TC that night. I was also surprised that they all told the truth when
they got back to their respective camps and thought the twist would help
their alliances.
Yeah, she didn't need to give up her vote from what I could see. One
of the others was likely to give up their vote since they all knew if
one person didn't give up their vote they would all lose their votes.
Interestingly, Caroline was just about to say something when Teeny
blurted out that she was would give up her vote. I think Teeny had a
perfect argument when she said the person who was about to go to TC
shouldn't have to give up their vote, and I was surprised at how easily
she gave in on this.

I wonder why Kishan targeted her over anyone else?
Because Kishan was aligned with Teeny who was aligned with Sol, and Rome
had the advantage. Gen was sort of the odd person out.

I thought this was a great episode. I had no idea who was going to get
booted.
Yeah, they did a good job at not making the bootee obvious. Which I
appreciate as they also made it clear why the bootee was chosen.
Something they don't always do.

increase the likelihood the person would be caught.
Though she could have got away with it if she didn't bother trying to
clean things up and just took the note down to the ocean to get
cleaned up. Trying to do it at the well was a bad choice as she was
much more likely to run into another player at the well than if she
had gone to the ocean.
I did not understand why she felt such a need to clean everything up.
Why not just leave the splattered paint and let the other tribe members
find it and wonder what had happened.  To me that would have been a lot
safer than taking a chance that someone would stumble onto her as she
was cleaning up (which is effectively what happened).
I agree. If I was another player I'd have no idea why there was a bunch
of paint on the ground. Now T has probably lost trust in her.

Yeah, I'm not even sure why she thinks the others would care. She
clearly looks to be in her 60s.
She easily looks to be pushing 60, especially when you consider the
amount of work she has apparently had done on her face.  I get that she
doesn't want anyone to think she is old and therefore weak, but she
effectively gave them that impression anyway by pretending how tired and

I agree with that, especially considering that I haven't seen 58 since
Survivor seasons were still numbered in the teens. But I'm pretty sure
to a bunch of Gen-Z and younger Millennials, 58 would definitely be
considered old. So I can understand her wanting people to think she was
in her 40s - I just don't think anyone would believe it.

Yes Christeenie should have held her ground and not let the other two

To be fair to Kishan, his target was Jerome, not Genevieve. However,
she got spooked when she suddenly realized how strategic a player he
was, and that he might be a danger to her moving forward.

I guess what pisses me off is that, even though it was good television,
the Kishan blindside doesn’t happen without Jerome’s good luck in
E03 and Christeenie’s bad luck in E04. Without the “steal-a-vote”
advantage, and Christeenie’s lost vote, Jerome probably takes the
“walk of shame” instead of Kishan. I don’t really care that much for
either player, but I’d rather the game be played straight.

Genevieve was never a target. Jerome suggested to Kishan that it might
be prudent to try to make Solomon believe that the votes were going to be
put on someone else rather than him. At that point, Kishan tossed out
Genevieve’s name as a decoy for Solomon’s ears only. That conversation
lead into the “threat/ultimatum" discussion between Jerome and Solomon.
As had been suggested by Kishan, Jerome told Solomon that if he
handed over his “Shot in the Dark”, he would steal Genevieve’s vote.
But that would never have actually happened because, at that point, the
votes were going to be for Solomon no matter what happened at TC. If
Kishan had left well enough alone, he would not have been in any danger
at TC. Pitching the Jerome vote to Genevieve was the beginning of the
end for him.

Rob C. had an interesting theory on his podcast that had not occurred to

that perhaps he, or he and Gen in concert, deliberately threw the
challenge so that Rome could have his big moment by using his

I kind of think if that were the case the show would give us a

As part of the New Era editing techniques, they sometimes hold things
back for an episode or two and maybe this is an example of that. It
would certainly explain why Rome and Gen were so unbelievably bad at the

given that they had not yet been to TC and Rome and Gen may have wanted
to slim down the tribe by getting rid of players they perceived as not

Or the editors only showed moments during which Jerome looked bad,
and pretty much ignored whatever Genevieve was doing with the pieces.
It could be that Jerome’s game story will be to present him as a big

pre-merge

It was a good episode with lots of uncertainty and drama, but it wouldn’t
have been that way if Jerome and Christeenie’s games had not been
influenced by blind luck on their “journeys”. Solomon, Kishan, and
Christeenie would have really benefited from removing Jerome from
the game if they had had the opportunity to do so. They would have:
-had a numbers advantage
-eliminated an unstable element from their tribe
-isolated the cagey Genevieve who may also be a liability in challenges.

Or the editors only showed moments during which Jerome looked bad,
and pretty much ignored whatever Genevieve was doing with the pieces.
It could be that Jerome’s game story will be to present him as a big
talker/
control freak who doesn’t come through in the clutch resulting in a
pre-merge
boot.
At one point in Ep04 I thought Rome's cockiness was going to result in
his boot that night. Now, I'm thinking he'll easily make the merge and
possibly make the finale episode.

But under that scenario I doubt there would have been any of the drama
that we saw unfold and thus no reason to blindside Rome.
It was a good episode with lots of uncertainty and drama, but it wouldn’t
have been that way if Jerome and Christeenie’s games had not been
influenced by blind luck on their “journeys”. Solomon, Kishan, and
Christeenie would have really benefited from removing Jerome from
-had a numbers advantage
-eliminated an unstable element from their tribe
-isolated the cagey Genevieve who may also be a liability in challenges.
Having Kishan gone will benefit Teeny as far as I'm concerned. He was a
sloppy player and not very strategic. It looks like she has a chance to
work with Gen which will be much better for her. The best thing for
Teeny right now IMO is for Rome and Sol to go after each other again. Or
stop going to TC! lo

He certainly received a ton of FaceTime during scenes involving
Red Tribe. That could mean that he goes deep, or it could mean
that the editors want to maximize his entertainment value before
he is gone.

I hope so. If Red Tribe goes to TC again in E05, I suspect there
will be a shuffle in E06 which I definitely don’t want to see.

I could see either one happening. I'd like to see him stay now to see
how things play out between him and Sol, and him and Gen.

There's 14 players left now so if they wait another week they would have
to do some stupid twist where someone doesn't get picked to play in the
IC, etc. We've seen that enough so I'd rather wait until a real merge
happens or do a shuffle now into two tribes of seven.

I'd personally prefer to see him out of the game. In my view he is an
arrogant bully who was both condescending and disrespectful of Sol when
he followed him so closely and refused to give him any space. I frankly
would love to see his tribe mates vote him out as they originally seemed
to want to do before his advantage came to light.

In a way it reminded me of something from an earlier season. No, not
Andrea following Malcolm around when Malcolm was idol-hunting. While
similar on the surface, that was more lighthearted and even flirtatious,
and you could see there was mutual respect and friendship between the
players. No I was reminded more of season 39 when Dan Spilo was
famously kicked off the show following allegations of inappropriate
touching of both players and crew. Now clearly, as far as we can tell,
Rome wasn't guilty of any kind of actual physical contact per se with
Sol. But he clearly made Sol uncomfortable by his demeaning attitude
and his complete refusal to give Sol some space and privacy when
requested.

If I had been Sol in that situation, I think I might have said something
to him along the lines of "Look, Rome, you are making me uncomfortable
by hanging around so close to me. Either back off or I'm going to walk
over to that producer behind the camera and file a harassment claim
against you. Even though we know it's just a game, you can't demean and
bully people the way you are bullying me." Even though what Rome did
was probably technically within the rules of the game and Sol probably
wouldn't have much grounds for an actual harassment claim, I have a
feeling Rome would have backed off if that had been the conversation.

I need to go back and watch the episode again to verify a few things.
For example, did Gen "encourage" Rome to apologize to Sol?

The way Rome was bullying and harassing Sol was difficult to watch.
Reminded me of BB before its New Era started. But does Survivor have a
rule that says you can't follow someone around? I doubt it does because
we see people getting shadowed all the time if it looks like they might
go hunting for an idol. Sol should have brought up what Rome was doing
at TC and made a big deal about it. A big enough deal where Jeff would
get concerned about the image of the show. Painting Rome as a villain
might have been enough to get Jeff to chew him out.

You can definitely follow people from a distance, but Rome was staying
next to Sol within just a few inches at some points and followed him
around right next to him, sometimes arm to arm, giving Sol no personal
space. I frankly think that crosses the line and I don't think we have
ever seen that.

Whether it was Gen who convinced Rome to apologize or some producer
actually talked to him, I don't know. I just know, if it were me bring
bullied like that with a producer a few feet a way, I would have spoken
up to the producer if I were Sol. Perhaps Sol did that or perhaps a
producer stepped in off-camera. It's also inconceivable that this
wasn't talked about at TC, making me think it was but was cut out.

If either Sol or Rome gets voted out soon, maybe we'll hear more. It's
also possible Jeff addressed this in his On Fire podcast, which I don't
normally listen to.
