Zeppo, you're back! What happened to you at the end of S46? Did you have
big money on Maria to win? lol

As for Canadians, how many will S50 have?

No, I quit watching after Probst allowed Liz and Kenzie to work as a team at
the
end of the first IC in E13. IMO, Liz should have been disqualified from the
challenge
as soon as she walked over to Kenzie’s puzzle and helped her figure out
what to do
next. I had stuck with S46 through all the Bhanu and Quintavius nonsense, but
allowing
Liz to cheat in order to influence the outcome of a challenge was “a bridge
too far” for me.

So, tbh, I very well may be done with Survivor. IMO, the show has been going
downhill
at a dizzying rate of speed since S41, and, thanks to Jeff Probst, lost its
last shred of
integrity in S46.

There will probably be one or two. Personally I wouldn’t mind seeing Shan
and/or
Kaleb have a second shot. IMO, they were both really good players who might
be able to correct the mistakes they made in their original seasons. However,
I think
that it is more likely that Probst would favour asking Drea, Omar, or Venus
to appear
iin S50 if he is thinking about casting Canadians.

We've seen people help others before. Yes, it does seem strange but if
it's not against the rules then I'm fine with it. FYI, Liz said in a
postseason interview that she was not helping Kenz to win. She was
ensuring Maria lost because she was afraid if she made it to the end
that she would win.

Hopefully you decide to stick around. I appreciate your input and take
on the game. I agree with you to an extent on the show since S41. S41
and S42 were way too woke for me with the Hourglass twist possibly being
the stupidest thing they've done. S43 still pisses me off because of the
bitter jury and crappy edit. S44 on however have been good. S45 and S46
had great casts and very good gameplay. If it wasn't for that crazy
four-episode arc devoted to Bhanu, S46 would rank as one of the best
seasons in ages. Jeff miscalculated badly thinking people would fall in
love with Bhanu's act.

Omar, Kaleb, Shan and Venus would all be great choices. I never want to
see Drea again and I'll be shocked if either Erika or Maryanne get asked
to play.

We've seen people help others before. Yes, it does seem strange but if
it's not against the rules then I'm fine with it.
There have been occasions in past seasons when Probst has tolerated
players verbally helping others during challenges. The two most
famous examples that come to mind are Noel helping one of the
opposing tribes in S43, and Adam helping Ken to win an individual
challenge in S33. However, since S23 (South Pacific), physical
assistance has been forbidden. You may recall that the final 5
immunity challenge involved a block stacking activity, and that
Sophie dropped half her stack leaving Ozzie with a huge lead.
She began yelling at one of the other players to come over and
help pick up her pieces. At that point, Probst intervened, and
declared that the other guy could not leave his stack behind to
physically help Sophie.
Fast forward 23 seasons and that precedent suddenly no longer
applies. Liz was allowed to run half way across the island to retrieve
Kenzie’s board, after which she actually counted the holes for
Kenzie. So Probst allowed his own long standing “rule” to be
broken for reasons that are not at all clear to me.
I am reluctant to mention this as I have no reliable source, but there
have been suggestions/speculation/reports that, prior to the final
immunity challenge in S46, Probst told the remaining players that
(once again) physical assistance was forbidden.

Yes, I had assumed that was Liz’s motivation for deciding to cheat.

Thank you. I appreciate you saying that. I’ll probably give S37E01 a fair
chance. I may end up being pleasantly surprised.:-)

But “the hourglass twist” continues to exist in a slightly modified form
which
Production calls “earn the merge”. I would prefer a return to the
traditional
straight merge that worked so well for 39 versions of the show.

I agree that S44 and S45 had some good game play. However, from
my perspective, S46 had too many really bad players eg. Ben, Liz,
Quintavius, Hunter, Tevin, Tim, Bhanu, and Jess which the editors attempted
to conceal by presenting them as “quirky” characters. IMO, 42 and 46
were the two worst seasons in the “new era”.
I liked S41 a lot. The “woke shit” wasn’t as predominant as in S42,
and it had a great cast. The best player did not win, but the best player
In the F3 did which left me feeling satisfied.

I agree. I liked Erika as a person and respected Maryanne’s “lights
out”
performance at FTC, but, IMO, neither woman has the kind of “resume”
that would be enough to earn them an invitation to one of the franchise’s
milestone seasons.

Because Survivor is technically a game show and subject to very specific
game show rules, I believe all challenges have to be described fairly
precisely in a document which lays out all the rules of the challenge
and which is explained to the players before the challenge begins.
Although they don't show this on camera, I believe the producers
walk-through every challenge carefully and answer any questions before
the challenge begins so that Jeff and the players know exactly what can
and cannot be done. As I understand it, virtually everything is allowed
in a challenge (including the possibility of players helping one
another) UNLESS and only unless it is specifically prohibited. I don't
think Jeff can legally deviate from the rules and allow for things that
are specifically prohibited. So when he says in the middle of a
challenge something is not allowed, it's because the rules specifically
prohibit and either Jeff or another producer caught that fact. And if
he lets something go (like Liz helping Kenz) it is because the rules
didn't prohibit it.

Thing is, these challenges are all developed and documented separately
from one another, so just because something was either allowed or
prohibited in one challenge, doesn't mean the same will apply in a
future challenge.

Again, I think this is all legally mandated by game-show rules.
